Does coconut oil help with increasing testosterone production?

There are many reasons why men should increase their testosterone levels. Testosterone plays a great importance in having:

  • Higher capacity to burn fat and build muscle
  • Stronger Bones
  • Increased sex drive
  • Higher baseline levels of energy and self-esteem

The decision to Increase T levels sounds like a no-brainer right?

The low-fat diet equals an Alpha physique myth

For years men have been preached that shredded muscular bodies equals high testosterone levels and along with the status of being more alpha. To achieve these alpha status bodies we have been told for many years we need to be on a low-fat diet.

This advice of having to be on a low fat diet to achieve these Alpha status physiques has now been debunked.

Low-fat diets have now been proven to cause low testosterone levels. Healthy fats are needed for men to achieve maximum T levels. Testosterone and all other sex hormones are made out of cholesterol. Therefore you can boost your testosterone levels by consuming more cholesterol and saturated fats.

A great source of saturated fat is coconuts/coconut oil. Coconut oils are actually one of the best fat sources for men to increase their testosterone levels and overall health especially if they are involved in regular physical training.

Coconut oil Increases Metabolism

Another great reason why coconut oil is one of the best fats to consume is that it helps increase metabolism within the body.

The higher your resting basal metabolic rate is the more calories your body will burn throughout the day.

This is because Coconut Oil is high in medium chain triglycerides, fatty acids. The thing with these medium chain fatty acids, is that they are metabolized differently than the longer chain fats. Therefore, a calorie from coconut oil is not the same as a calorie from olive oil or butter.

Coconut oil may increase testosterone levels

There was a study done for 2 months where 40 rats were assigned to receive one of the following: soybean, olive, coconut, or grapeseed oil. Researchers conducted a number of tests, which showed that use of coconut oil was associated with the least amount of oxidative stress, a factor that contributes to disease and aging. The highest testicular levels of antioxidants were seen in the animals given coconut oil or olive oil, and coconut oil was associated with significantly higher levels of testosterone. This is evidence that coconut oil is able to prevent oxidative stress in testicles thanks to its antioxidant effects, and therefore also preserve testosterone levels from oxidative damage.

Coconut oil is a great anti-inflammatory

Researchers have proven that coconut oil has a great ability to reduce inflammation. In this study, coconut oil was proven to provide anti-inflammation effects and shown to have a moderate pain-relieving effect and ability to reduce fever.

There are many factors to take into consideration when trying to increase testosterone production. Having a decent amount of healthy fats in your diet is a crucial factor to consider. It is not recommended to be on a low-fat diet even if you are trying to get some 6 pack abs. A lot of online fitness personalities that are under 8% body fat and recommend low-fat diets are either feeling like shit, have low testosterone and libido levels or are on steroids.

So when taking into consideration the benefits of coconut oil such as its ability to increase metabolic rate, increase antioxidant status and provide anti-inflammatory effects. Coconut oil is probably one of the best sources of fats you can consume.

NOTE: You can also use coconut oils for cooking, I would stick with organic coconut oil and avoid hydrogenated trans-fat kind.
